Galatea is pleased to participate in the 15th edition of ArtRio, taking place from September 10th to 14th at Marina da Glória, in Rio de Janeiro. The gallery presents a selection that includes works by Alfredo Volpi, Franz Weissmann, and Mira Schendel, in dialogue with recent productions by Allan Weber, Dani Cavalier, Arthur Palhano, Gabriela Melzer, and Carolina Cordeiro, along with names such as Luiz Zerbini, Estela Sokol, Sarah Morris, and Joaquim Tenreiro, composing a panorama that brings together emerging young talents and established figures.

For this edition, Galatea’s booth highlights intergenerational dialogues. Among them are the correspondences between 4 Freie in 4 Gebundenen Gruppen (1958), by Max Bill, and the geometric color blocks that appear both in the canvas cutouts of Allan Weber’s series Anotações [Notes] (2025) and in the stretched Lycra surfaces that structure Dani Cavalier’s solid paintings. Meanwhile, Arthur Palhano’s painting, marked by chromatic layers and playful figures, resonates with the vibrant work of Francisco Galeno, which in turn connects to the geometric and popular roots explored by Alfredo Volpi.

By bringing together works that move across concrete art, geometric constructivism, informal abstraction, textile art, and what is known as popular art, Galatea’s booth at ArtRio reflects and articulates the conceptual pillars of the gallery’s program: to be a space of impetus and convergence between cultures, temporalities, styles, and distinct genres, generating a fertile friction between the old and the new, the canonical and the non-canonical, the erudite and the informal.
