Artissima 2025 | Carolina Cordeiro: Oval Lingotto Fiere | Turim – Itália
The 2025 edition of Artissima concluded yesterday, November 2. In Galatea’s debut participation at the italian fair, the gallery presented the solo project ‘América do Sal’ [Salt America] (2021/2025) by artist Carolina Cordeiro, which was granted the ‘ad occhi chiusi’ Prize by Fondazione Merz.
América do Sal is a work in progress that transforms with each new installation. In Turin, the work was presented for the first time outside Brazil—and, true to its nature, the cotton net was hand-sewn by the artist on-site in the days leading up to the fair’s opening. This gesture gave the project a performative dimension and emphasized its connection to time and the body.
“The work of Carolina proposes a reflection on what connects us,” notes Fernanda Morse, curator at Galatea. “It is a piece that speaks of coexistence, care, and ancestry. The net becomes a metaphor for a social fabric—each knot representing a meeting point between stories, knowledge, and cultures.”
