Gabriela Melzer: Animism : FEMA Gallery | Cascais, Lisbon - Portugal
FEMA Gallery, in partnership with Galatea, presents ‘Animismo’, the first solo exhibition by artist Gabriela Melzer (São Paulo, 1999). On view until August 30 in Cascais, Portugal, the show stems from Melzer’s exploration of organic forms that emerge from the interplay between movement and color.
Comprising twelve previously unseen paintings, the exhibition invites viewers to enter a space where the visible and the invisible coexist. Drawing inspiration from the simultaneously random and ordered patterns found in nature — its fractals, imperfections, and repetitions — ‘Animismo’ offers a sensory experience in which time, energy, and perception intertwine in a continuous and fluid flow.
“The idea of animism, as the belief that all elements of the world have a soul, resonates deeply with the movement I explore in my work. Animism surfaces as a driving force, as a living pictorial energy”, says the artist about the exhibition’s creative process.
