ININTELIGIBILIDADE – Isay Wenfield
Galatea is pleased to present Incomprehensibility, an exhibition by Isay Weinfeld. The show consists of objects collected at different times and in various contexts, rearranged with humor and keen insight in the works on display. Weinfeld explores the symbolic weight of these found objects by juxtaposing them with subtle irony, challenging the status of the artwork and the role of the artist. The exhibition does not seek to construct discourses but rather to dismantle them with wit.
Flowers, toys, porcelain figurines, and frames are among the items acquired by Isay Weinfeld in markets and flea fairs around the world. These small objects form the visual narrative of Incomprehensibility. Through signs and symbols once considered ordinary and conventional, Weinfeld guides the audience on an aesthetic journey that highlights the contradictions of contemporary life.
Regarding his work, Isay Weinfeld comments: “These are objects I have collected from various places around the world, which I have brought together, giving them a new meaning as a whole. Incomprehensibilityseeks to convey subtle humor—very delicate yet imbued with sharp self-criticism. I use humor as inspiration because it is something deeply present in my life, and I feel the need to express it in areas beyond architecture. That is why I engage in other creative endeavors, such as filmmaking and exhibitions.”
